A stack of books were being held tightly against the slender woman's bosom. As the full train sped by, the skirts of her chocolate dress swishing with the sudden gust of wind. Her small feet adorned in white flats tapped lightly against the floor of the station as she waited. Fingers drummed against the white bow tied about her waist. It was late at night, few people walking about in the station at such an hour. Alexandria had just come from the library and was going to head home to her sire. The Vampiress had read all of the books there and had needed to borrow more. While there were five against her breasts, she would easily finish them within a week. Reading was wonderful and there was little else Alexandria enjoyed more. There was so much to learn. No matter how much one read and explored, there would always be more knowledge to gather. It was such an incredible sensation! Long, black lashes fluttered, revealing large, doe-like hazel eyes. Her orbs and lips, which were curled in an ever-present soft smile, held a warmness within them. The well-dressed woman appeared as though she had been taken right out of a classic movie, a woman of exceptional beauty and grace. Several minutes passed and she patiently waited for the next train. A screeching noise resounded down the tunnel, signaling that the train was nearby. Within moments, it slowed down to the stop and halted before her. The doors opened and not a soul left, for no one else was within the train and very few in the station. Alexandria smiled in delight and stepped within the transportation system. "Not much longer and I will be home~" she murmured softly to herself, clearly pleased. Her thoughts happily began to wander about the books she was going to read and then rested on Adrien. A pink blush colored her cheeks and her heart fluttered delicately like a butterfly. Excitement grew within her at the prospect of seeing him soon, her sire, her savior... the one person she loved in this world. Of course, she could never say such a thing, for she was not worthy of him. No, she would continue to follow him from afar and stay by his side. That was her place. With a sigh, Alexandria moved over to a seat and sat down, gazing about the train as she waited for the doors to close and for it to start moving again.

David sat on a bench near the back of the station, wearing his typical black t-shirt with his leather jacket, jeans, black boots, and smiley face hat. His cigarette was placed firmly between his lips, its embers glowing brightly as he took a slow, even drag, then let out a steady stream of smoke. He knew he shouldn't smoke as much as he did, but bad habits formed in combat are hard to kick. Especially when his job now required steady hands and a clear head, it just wasn't practical to go through the whole process of quitting. Not that he didn't want to, not as much as she had tried to help him quit. "It's bad for your health." She would constantly chide him. And for a while, he really did try. He wanted to change... For her. But that will had died with her. He took another drag, heavier this time from his thoughts, and blew out the smoke angrily as he tossed the butt of the cigarette onto the ground and squished the still glowing embers out with his boot.
Leaning back on the bench, his head and eyes slowly moved to take in his surroundings. The subway was pretty empty today actually. As far as he could tell, the only ones there were him, a few wannabe hipsters on the other side of the tracks, a nursing mother with her baby, and not a whole lot else. Nothing really grabbed his attention as being off or dangerous...
Whoa, where did she come from? There, standing by where the train would pull up stood a woman David could swear came out of a painting somewhere. Her dark brown hair, nearly black, had a shine to it he wasn't used to seeing, and he caught a glimpse of her eyes as she looked around the station. Gorgeous. David bit his lip and was just about to put another cigarette in his mouth when he finally saw the train he needed pull up. Placing the cigarette back in the box, he stood up and walked into the cabin, taking a corner seat near the back so that he could have a commanding view of the cabin.
Low and behold, sitting there on one of the benches was the woman he had noticed in the station. He chuckled a bit to himself, and was glad he'd at least have something to look at on this ride, when suddenly before the doors closed another man found his way into the cabin. Almost immediately, David sensed something about this man was off. His appearance was lean and hungry, his clothes dark and loose, and he had an almost hunched posture, as though he were about to charge on all fours. He took one look at the woman and gave what could be described as a devilish wolfish grin, and took a seat facing her, but he did not appear to notice David.
The train was off, and within moments of the train pulling out of the station, the man drew a knife and immediately forced himself upon the woman, growling incoherently. What he told the woman David couldn't make out, but he didn't wait and see on this one. David drew his pistol from its holster under his jacket and pointed it at the man.
"Hey asshole! I'll give ya to the count of one to get off her before you get a bullet through your fucking skull!"
The man stopped and turned to look at his challenger, and grinned an evil grin, one no normal man would give if a gun was pointed at him. "And whaddya think that's gonna do to me faggot? Kill me? Yous got another thing comin'."
Without warning, the man lurched onto the ground, as fur and a tail began to grow, his mouth turning into a snout and his ears growing pointed, his teeth sharpening. Lycan. David should have guessed sooner. Before the process of transformation was complete however David had swapped in some silver bullets and fired into the beasts shoulder. The beast howled in pain, and glared at the David, who simply grinned a grin matching the smile on his hat.
"Oh, you choose the wrong person to fuck with pendejo." David grinned, as he fired another round into the beast. Snarling, it charged towards David, who by now had his knife out. Just as the creature pounced on him, David sank his blade into its neck, and fired several more rounds into its heart. Tumbling to the ground, he struggled to keep the beasts snarling jaws from his face as he raised his pistol and fired its last round into the lycan's brain, splattering blood onto the windows and a bit onto his face. Grunting as he rolled the body off of him, he spat the blood from his mouth as he then dragged the body towards the door and pulled it open. The wind gushing through the cabin, he rolled the body close to the edge and kicked it onto the tracks, closing the door immediately afterwards.
Walking over to the woman, David reloaded his pistol and took a seat in the chair in front of her and wiped the blood off his face as he re holstered his pistol, breathing heavily for a bit as he removed his hat and ran his fingers through his brown hair. He then noticed one of the books she had been holding on the ground, and leaned down to pick it up. He offered it to the woman with a soft smile on his face
"I'm sorry ma'am... Are you all right? Did he hurt you?" He asked looking into her gorgeous brown eyes with genuine concern and kindness in his own. "Don't worry, he won't be bothering anyone again anytime soon..."

After she had entered, another man did as well. He walked over to the end of the train and sat down. Right before they started off, another male entered, this one big and almost predatory in appearance. Her hazel eyes glanced over at him and his dark one's met hers, giving the woman a rather creepy and disturbed smile. Alexandria shuddered and immediately moved her gaze away, staring at the floor. She fiddled nervously with her books, her gut churning uncomfortably. It was telling her she was in danger. Serious danger. The Vampiress took a deep breath and her brows furrowed. His scent... it was strangely familiar. Alexandria racked at her brain, trying to think of where she had smelled it before. It was not until the train started moving at a steady pace that she remembered. Large orbs widened and she gave a small gasp, her delicate hand raising to her mouth. That scent... earlier at the library she had smelled it. And then once while walking the streets. Alexandria had not thought much of it, too focused on going home. If only she had! The Vampire had been followed this entire time! That beast like appearance... it could only mean that he was.... was... a Lycan!
Alexandria started to stand up but was stopped when she heard snarls, metal sliding against metal, and suddenly felt immense weight on her. The male was now on top of her, a knife held to her throat, all too quickly for her to do anything about it. She gasped once more and tried to push herself more into the seat, wanting to get away. But it was all for naught. Alexandria coughed at the strong foul breath that hit her face and he whispered in amusement, a grin on his face, "Looks like you realized too late, little Vampire. Oh, what the second-in-command will do to get you back safe and sound, not like he will though. HA!"
Her body began to tremble and she shook her head, whispering, "N-No...!"
They were going to use her to get to her sire! It could not be! Alexandria tried to fight against his grip, but it was too powerful. She was no fighter. In fact, the Vampire was delicate for her kind, even weak. The woman was about to cry out when she heard a shout from the back. Her tear-filled eyes moved to where the sound came from and she stared in disbelief. Either this was a man who happened to carry guns around, which she doubted, or... was this a Hunter? The two of them being in the same place at the same time... and not on the same side! That was clear from what was said. The Lycan pushed off of her and began to transform. In her shock, the books fell to the ground and Alexandria clung to the metal bar by the door, watching the scene unfold in shock. The two fought and, eventually, the Lycan was killed. All of the violence and events still caught her off-guard and she simply gawked at them. When the man came up to her, the woman shook her head and held her cheek with her palm. The hunter handed her a book and she took it numbly, murmuring quietly, a slight English voice still evident even after her many years in America, "T... Thank.... you..."
Once she regained herself, Alexandria shook her head and glanced up at the Hunter, giving him a beautiful, gracious smile, "No, he fortunately did not, but.... he was going to. I cannot express my gratitude enough for you saving my life and being here. Thank you... so very, very much."

David smiled lightly as the woman thanked him for saving her. She had an absolutely breathtaking smile, one which made David forget, if only momentarily, that he had just had to kill an angry, vicious lycan to receive it. Bending down to pick up the other books that had fallen onto the ground, he organized them a minute in his hands and handed them to her in a stack, trying his hardest not to get the blood he had on his hands on the books.
David couldn't help but be amused by the fact that she had a British accent. Really, what was it about this place that seemed to attract so many of them? It wasn't that it was a bad thing, David personally had a soft spot for European accents, but it was just... Amusing.
"Don't worry about it miss." David smiled. "Being here for these kinds of things comes with my job description. I'm just sorry that someone such as yourself had to go through something like that. First time experiencing an attack is... Well... It's never pleasant..."
David spoke as though he hadn't a clue in the world that this woman was a vampire. In truth, he had a small hunch, but that's all it was. A small hunch. All he had to go on was the fact that she spoke in a manner which, really, no one spoke in anymore (which, the way a person speaks is a fairly good field test. If one appeared in their young twenties, yet spoke with a vocabulary and grammar of someone considerably older, it was a good idea to keep your guard up.). Still, best to act as though he hadn't a slightest indication that he had his misgivings. Besides, the next station wasn't for another few minutes. Once they arrived there, they'd probably have to move quickly in order to avoid being asked too many questions by the police.
"But how terribly rude of me, I haven't introduced myself. My name is David. It is a shame I couldn't have met someone as beautiful as you under different circumstances. I'd offer to shake your hand, but I don't think you'd want blood on yours." He said, playfully wiggling his fingers which still had some remnants of blood on them. He then looked at the books, then back at the woman's soft hazel eyes. "So I take it you like to read?"

Alexandra closed her eyes and smiled, chuckling softly as he carefully gathered the books, trying not to stain any crimson on the covers. Her lips revealed her hazel orbs and she took the books, placing them on her lap. She told him, "Allow me to take those. Thank you once again. You are too kind. You do not need to trouble yourself so~"
"Job description?" she asked, her smooth brows arching upwards. Now she was certain. The man was certainly a hunter, but he did not appear to be an extremist. They tended not to be so kind and polite. When the man mentioned how terrible it had to have been for her to go through that and brought up first time experiences, her lids drooped and she gave a distant, sad smile, memories flooding back of her horrendous attack that nearly killed her... no, did kill her, was the reason she was brought into the unlife. Her fingers gripped the edges of the books and she admitted, "It was certainly frightening but..." Alexandria smiled weakly, "it is not my first experience nor my worst. That was... quite some time ago." And with that she gave a nervous chuckle.
While normally she would never reveal her real race, the Vampire sensed she could trust this man. The train screeched to a half and the doors opened. The woman stood up and mentioned that they should probably quickly leave the area. The two left the subway station and were now on the streets. A sigh escaped her lips in relief at being away from the station and where the police would eventually gather when the corpse was found. When David introduced himself, she beamed a gorgeous smile and bowed her head, giving a small curtsy. She replied, "It is a pleasure to meet you as well, David. I am Alexandria Alaina Adair." The woman gave a slight blush and she waved her hand up and down, saying modestly, "Oh, how silly. I am not that beautiful, although I do rather agree meeting in other circumstances would have been much more preferable."
Alexandria gave a soft giggle, eyes lighting up brightly. At his next question, the Vampire nodded and answered, "Yes, I adore reading and learning. Education is something that can never be taken away, that is for certain. I should be done with these novels by the end of the week~" She then tilted her head. "Do you enjoy reading, David?"

David grinned a bit when she mentioned how this was not her first experience with immortals. It didn’t take long for him to put two and two together. Her nervous chuckle, her pause between statements, her vagueness over what had happened. He had enough evidence to reasonably believe she was a vampire. So, two immortals in one night on the same subway car, with a hunter just happening to be in the back? What were the odds of that happening? More importantly, he was certain that she had figured out his profession by now. And yet, she showed no hostility. Apprehension naturally, but that was fully understandable. Had he had known of her true nature sooner, truth be told, he wouldn’t had been as kind to her at the start. But now here he was having a conversation with her, and it was pleasant enough.
Agreeing with her that it would be wise to leave as quickly as possible, David stood up and walked out with her, placing his hands into the pockets of his jacket. Moving quickly yet calmly, he looked out the doors to see if anyone was coming. Seeing the station was relatively clear, he smiled and hopped out of the subway car with the vampire behind him. Despite his general easy-going demeanor, he was actually on mental full alert. This vampire was undoubtedly beautiful but so were many others, as though nature had dictated that they were to have an appeal normal women did not. They explained the scientific reasons why in training, but in truth David didn’t pay much attention to it. He just knew she was incredibly beautiful and incredibly dangerous despite her apparent shyness.
“Alexandra Alaina Adair.” David repeated, grinning. “Triple A… Does that mean if my car breaks down I could call you to help?” He laughed, unsure whether or not she’d get the joke. Oh well, it made him smile. As they walked, he saw cops driving past and stopping at the subway station they had just exited. David simply smiled and continued walking with Alexandra. Really, he was glad for the company for once, even if it was a potentially lethal one.
David chuckled when she giggled at the question, thinking of how adorable it sounded, and answered. “All those in a week? Heh, I wish I had time for that. Truth be told, reading was great for when you’re stuck stationed somewhere like Iraq, but for some reason in the states I never seem to find the time… Naturally, I have not had a century or so to read, but I’m certain if I did I’d probably have read… Well, maybe half as much as you probably have.”
David shot a knowing smile back at this vampireess, as if to say ‘I know what you are, but I have no plans of attacking.’ For all intents and purposes, he should probably capture her, but something told him she’d be better off a future friend than a prisoner. She seemed… different than most the vampires he had met. For one, she spoke humbly, constantly saying thanks and being genuinely sweet. Most vampires always spoke with a sort of subtle sense of superiority over you, especially if you were a hunter, as if they were too good to associate with you or die by your hand (the second of which David had already disproved). David then looked forward again and continued.
“So to answer your questions, yes, I do enjoy reading. I’m a particular fan of Tolkien and GRR Martin, but one book I really want to read is by Bram Stoker.” He asked, dropping yet another not-so-subtle hint that he was aware of her nature. “Do you have any good suggestions? Perhaps we could discuss them over coffee?” He smiled as he pointed over to the coffee shop across the street. “My treat.”

Alexandria blinked, trying to think of the reference. Triple A.... it sounded familiar. The woman gave him a small smile and asked, "Triple A is a service vehicle company, is it not?"
With her question, the Vampire gave a soft chuckle, her delicate hand over her lips. When he questioned about all of the books in a week, she simply nodded and gave an "mhm." When David mentioned Iraq, Alexandria paused and arched her brows, pondering for a moment. Had this hunter been involved in the war in Iraq, or, she supposed, the current one? She was instantaneously intrigued and tilted her head, and questioned, "If I may, were you stationed there? In Iraq?"
It was evident that David knew what she was, although she was not necessarily trying to hide that fact. The woman figured since he did not react violently that she could say more. The truth no longer had to be stifled between the two of them. This pleased the woman. In fact, it made her rather happy. At mentioning Tolkien, she clasped her hands together and she smiled sweetly at the human.
"Oh, how I adore Tolkien," exclaimed the woman. A twinkle was in her intelligent hazel eyes. "When The Hobbit came out, it was such a sensation. I simply loved it. And then when The Lord of the Rings novels were being published... oh, I could not put them down. Having to wait felt so torturous~"
She gave a giggle at the memories of her waiting anxiously for each book from one of her favorite authors. He brought up Bram Stoker and she once more gave a light laugh. Another novel she remembered coming out. Alexandria had a few copies that were from the very year the novel was actually published. Over the years, the Vampire had made sure to keep them in mint condition. Other than yellow coloration of the paper, everything else was perfect. Long fingers played with the books in her arms and she inquired, "David, I have several copies of Bram Stoker's Dracula. I could always give you a copy. You saved my life. It is the very least I can do. I owe so very much."
Hazel eyes glanced down at the watch on her wrist and she pressed her lips together. The woman was very late on getting home. She was always on time and Adrien would certainly be worried. The Vampire just hoped he had not already sent out a search party for her. Her doe-like orbs looked up into his and she shook her head, replying with a slight sadness but mostly worry in her eyes , "As much as I would love to, I unfortunately cannot. You see, I am terribly late getting home and Mr. Chevalier must certainly be wondering where I am." She then blinked, getting an idea. Why, the Vampiress should take David to their home. After hearing the news of what happened to her, there would be no doubt that Adrien would want to meet him. Knowing her sire, he would want to greatly reward David. She gave a pretty smile to her new friend and exclaimed, "Oh, you should come home with me. Mr. Chevalier will want to meet you since you saved my life. You will certainly have no regrets if you come over. He is an absolutely wonderful man. In fact, Mr. Chevalier saved my life as well many, many years ago. He has taken care of me ever since then."
As she said all of this, a warmness glimmered in her eyes and she could not help but give a beautiful smile. Her hand rested over her heart and butterflies fluttered within her stomach. At that moment, the woman's love towards the man, her sire, were oh so very clear. The Vampire took a step forward and gently rested a hand over his, as she said, "I am most certain you will get a reward for your troubles. Little ol' me can only offer a book, but... oh, I know Mr. Chevalier will want to give you whatever it is you need or want for your bravery. That I can promise you~!"

David grinned at the vampire's question about AAA, then his grin waned a bit when she asked about being stationed in Iraq. To be honest, he was hoping she wouldn't ask that question. It brought up too many memories...
"Yeah... I spent some time there..." He answered vaguely, his eyes growing foggy a bit, but returning to their naturally happy shine when she started to go on about Tolkien. His smile grew as he came to realize that this woman had been alive longer than his own family had even been in the United States. "Well, I got them all at once, and thank God. They made six months over there slightly more tolerable..."
When she mentioned lending him a copy of Bram Stoker's Dracula, David couldn't help but chuckle. It shouldn't surprise him that she had read it. Perhaps after he himself read it he could come back to her and ask if it was accurate in any way. Besides, for a vampire she really did seem like a little ball of sunshine.
At first, her mention of the man, Mr. Chevalier, puzzled him. Was she like his secretary or something? His maid? Lover? And who was he? When she spoke a bit more about him, however, David's eyes widened a bit with understanding. Oh, he was her sire. He had turned her back in the day. That meant that he just happened to save someone very important to a very old and powerful vampire...
'I'm pretty sure I done fucked up' He thought to himself as she continued on about how he absolutely had to come home with her to meet him. Now, normally, when David went home with a woman it was not to meet the man of the house. It typically didn't work like that. This, however, was very different. The man of the house happened to be a vampire, and judging by the fact that this woman here had to be at the very least a hundred years old, Mr. Chevalier was bound to be a very old and powerful vampire. Holy shit, what was David getting himself into?
Having visibly stiffened when she held his hand and mentioned going to meet Mr. Chevalier, thinking it was a trap, a sudden thought came to David. She was clearly smitten with the man, it sounded almost as though she worshiped the very ground he walked on. Wait, since when did vampires love? Was this an ambush? Shaking that off, he thought logically for a second. If he followed her, yes, he may die, but he could also die on any given mission. This... This presented an opportunity to not only gain critical intel on the location of a major vampire, but perhaps even his trust. This could potentially mean the hunters could get better supplies in hunting lycans, and information on vampires who worked outside their syndicate (which, really were the vampires hunters tended to focus on as they were typically a much wilder bunch).
David's smile returned after a moment as he looked back at Alexandria. "Well Alexandria, I would love to borrow that book. But as for any favors from Mr. Chevalier, I'm not sure if I'd be allowed to take them..." (Or if I even wanted too...) "But I will gladly escort you home and meet Mr. Chevalier. Just make sure he doesn't eat me please." He half-joked. It was a shame she was so smitten by this man, David wouldn't have minded getting to know her himself. Oh well, discussing Brom Stoker would have to suffice.

The Vampiress was instantaneously able to tell that his time in Iraq was not a time he was fond of discussing, so the woman verbally backed off and gave him space. She was not one to offend or make uncomfortable, wanting only to comfort and befriend others. For most people, there were certain subject matters they did not like to talk about and Alexandria was quick to figure out what these matters were. Even after being with him for over one-hundred-and-fifty years, the woman knew not to ask questions about her sire's past. It was something he rarely, if ever, brought up, and it was obvious that there were reasons for that. It was the same with David. The woman respected such feelings and mentally noted to not inquire about his stay in the other country again. Whether or not it would be brought up again and would be discussed in depth would be up to her new friend. She would certainly not pry.
The man stated that the books made his stay in Iraq more bearable. She supposed that was a good thing, but it saddened the woman that he had a rough time there. War always tore at her kind and peaceful heart. It ripped people apart and created and grew the flames of hate and bitterness. Alexandria gave him a soft smile and nodded, replying, "That is wonderful. They are splendid books to read, but especially in conflict. In fact, Tolkien sent letters to his son as he fought in World War II that contained the last chapter he had written of the books. Each month, his son looked forward to the letters and it was what helped keep him alive."
Her hand was over her chest, remembering reading that in an article once the first novel was published. It was so endearing and uplifting, a father sending hope and a will to live to his son through such a difficult time. It reminded Alexandria of the countless letters she would write to her family after she had been turned into a Vampire, ensuring that she was safe and that she loved them all so dearly, wishing everyday that she could see them... of course, unlike Tolkien to his son, not a single one of those letters were mailed to her relatives, instead stacked away in a cabinet drawer. She knew she could not tell them the truth. They had to believe that she was dead and gone forever. It had been so heart-breaking. If it had not been for Adrien's constant guidance and support, Alexandria was not certain if she could have continued on.
When her hand rested on his, the woman noticed the human stiffen. Hazel eyes looked up at him in concern and she pulled back her delicate hands, asking, "Is everything alright, David? I did not make you uncomfortable, did I? Oh, I do apologize! I never meant to discomfort you. I often forget what I am can frighten others..."
"Oh, I see," said the female. Hunters were a rather strict bunch, following numerous rules when interacting with supernaturals. When David asked for her to not allow Adrien to eat him, the Vampiress gave a giggle, her hand over her mouth. "Mr. Chevalier would never eat you, silly. Vampires only drink blood, and he certainly would not feed without permission. There is no need to worry~"

David loosened a bit and smiled softly as the vampiress over apologized. It was really rather adorable. This vampiress really... She was not what he would expect from a vampire. His smile turned a bit sad when he heard her say that her nature frightened others. It was true... She technically was a monster. However, it appeared the mental transformation to monster never did occur with her. It was... Nice. Almost a bit faith restoring in the humanity of his enemy. Almost. He still had concerns over her sire. Him... He would need to watch for.
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine. It's not you, that much is a promise. I just... Well, I'm still learning the ropes when it comes to vampires, and needless to say my experience with your kind has not been... pleasant for the most part." He sighed, remembering the first time he was attacked...
Shaking his head, he laughed a bit when she mentioned that he doesn't eat people per say. "Querida, sucking blood happens to be one of the things I would rather not ever have done to me. But all right, I'll walk you home."
He offered his arm and smiled, and walked with her through the neighborhoods following her lead. Hopefully, he wasn't walking into an ambush.
