Dean saw the commercial for the film on the TV and hopped up with excitement and flicked the TV off as he threw the boys coats at them and grabbed the car keys and raced the boys out.. Dean thought back to the picture and smiled she'd want to be happy and he looked at his boys and gave them a warm smile and spoke to them.
"Life is different now boys, we're going to stop hunting.. We're going to be normal." Dean smiled softly at his boys as his car roared off the drive-way towards the movie theatre. Vaughn and Dean had been singing Van Halen, and the other brother silently sang some Prince music, They finally arrived at the Cineplex and walked up and paid for the tickets, Dean ordered lots of candy as his younger son looked at him and asked if he could a large sucker, and a snickers bar.. Dean sighed deeply and looked at his son "Son, in so many ways that's quite gay.... But whatever buttercup " Dean sighed and handed the various candy and drinks and popcorn to his kids before walking into the screening and sat in their seats as the advertisements began to play as Vaughn and Dean began doing the movie quiz while his other son pretended he was a girl and danced to the music during the adverts.
The film began playing and the group had been watching and laughing at most of the scenes in the film, Ripley was enjoying the time with his boys.. Once they'd finished in the theater he'd take them out to get ice-cream and maybe get take out for dinner... Dean excused himself from the screening to visit the bathroom as he finished he looked out into the lobby and quickly ran to buy his boys more snacks and drinks.. The truth was he wanted to seem like a better father and this was his way of making it up to them, he'd sat back down and showered his kids in sweets and drinks and continued to watch the film together as a family.

Vaughn wasn't quite sure why his father put the jackets on them. For one it was a fairly nice day out, and secondly they were old enough to put on their own jackets. They weren't babies anymore. Vaughn felt that his dad was probably making up for lost time, and trying to be the father he should have been long ago.
He wanted his father though, not this disguise as a father. Even when his mother was around his dad didn't act like this. Not in the slightest. Nevertheless he was excited to go and see the movie. He knew it would be fun.
On the way there they sung songs like Panama, Dreams, Eruption, and other Van Halen classic songs. His brother in the back was murmuring a song of his own, but he wasn't quite sure what.
His dad pulled up to the movie theater, slamming on the brakes last second and forcing the children's heads to be pulled forward. They got out, got their tickets and waited in line for popcorn and snacks. Honestly Vaughn didn't mind about all of that. He just wanted to spend time with his dad. But for some reason his dad made it seem like he had to spoil him to gain his favor back, when in reality, it was already there. He loved his dad, but not what his dad had become. It was hard to look up to a man that even a child could tell was broken inside.
The theater looked new and just refurbished. Red carpet lined the ground, and slick and reflective tile cover the counters and part of the walls. It was a lovely little theater in this little down in Kansas. He watched across the hall as the girl from his school, the girl who would sit with him at lunch walked through the theater. Her name was Belle, and she was one of Vaughn's good friends. Now all he needed was Damian to be here...
He shook his head and looked up at his father who was too busy watching the line of people in front of him.
Finally after there dad pretty much spent a majority of the money in his wallet they made their way inside the theater. It was a lovely movie, and Vaughn had a hard time not looking at the screen. His father stepped in front of him to leave the theater for a moment. He didn't enjoy being left alone in the dark with a room full of people he didn't know. Minutes later he came back with even more goodies. People around the theater eye-balled him and then to Vaughn and his brother. Again, his dead created a scene. Automatically people though he was spoiled. If only they knew.

Sunday Morning, it was a scorcher and after the fun filled day he and his boys experienced yesterday movies, arcade games and so forth.. Today Dean was going to take his boys to the beach for a relaxing day of fun and ice-cream.. Ripley stood in the kitchen it was around 8am and he stumbled towards the fridge and grabbed the milk and a bowl. He'd poured some cornflakes for him and Vaughn, and set aside a blue bowel with fruit loops in for his other son.
Dean had been humming ELO's Mr Blue Sky as his children came down the stairs.. One walked like a man, the other waltzed his way down and Dean prayed he'd fall so he could enjoy a good laugh. As they all ate their breakfast Dean was telling his kids jokes and overall laughing with them as they enjoyed the punch lines. "I bet you two are pleased to go back to school tomorrow while i hit up the arcade and eat all the ice-cream in the fridge eh?.." Dean chuckled as he smiled and finished his breakfast. While the boys ate he went upstairs and grabbed a small bag, inside of it was his many firearms and blades, he tossed them into the back of his cupboard and emptied out the bag before filling it with a couple of towels and some sun cream. Dean changed into his beach shorts and put one of his older shirts on and walked back down the stairs.
"C'mmon boys, get your swimsuits on we're heading to the beach for a day of family fun... I'll be in the car and you have two minutes before i leave and go to the beach by myself.. I hear the girls volleyball team is playing today.. " Dean smirked and looked at his other son, "I'm sure there is also something for you to look at.. " Dean smirked and patted both his sons on the back and rushed out to the car. The boys rushed out and Dean started his car as the engine rattled he pulled off the driveway and headed toward the beach, Dean had continued humming Mr. Blue Skye along the way until they finally pulled up at the beach and he grabbed the Duffle bag, the beach was hardly full but a fair number of people had been there.. Dean set the towels down in a less crowded part of the beach and proceeded to walk towards the crystal water as his boys did whatever they did.

Oh boy, the beach. Vaughn already had a bad experience once, and he wasn't going to look forward to it again. It also bothered him how his father treated his brother differently. So what if he acted differently? Everyone coped with moms death--disappearance, differently. It wasn't as if he was acting that off. He just preferred fruit-loops. So what, they're delicious!
He remembered walking upstairs slowly and throwing on his swim trunks and grabbing his sandals. he also threw on a white tshirt and a sweater. He made it downstairs before his brother but he waited just in case dad tried to leave him again. It wouldn't be the first time. He remembered his brother being left at the store a few times and even at school.
On one occasion his father had to pick up his brother from school when he stayed late to retake a test and his father went to the school to get him but came back without him. He wasn't sure how he managed to do that or why he did. But he remembered his brother stumbling into the house soaked and wet from head to toe.
Finally his brother came down the stairs and Vaughn raced him to the car. They managed to reach it about the same time. But when they slammed into the side they got a proper yelling from their father. "It's a classic" he would often say. Vaughn didn't really care, it wouldn't be until later on that he would appreciate vehicles more.
Because Vaughns father likes to drive 10 miles over the speed limit, they managed to reach the beach pretty quickly. There were quite a bit of people, and Vaughn felt a bit overwhelmed. He didn't like crowds, and considering how his father would often do something to embarrass him, he understood why. Vaughn threw off his sweater and left it in the car as he raced down the sandy shoreline with his brother, hoping to claim a spot out somewhere for themselves. Vaughn didn't know if this was another way for his father to try and look for his mother but it didn't matter. For a few hours they would be able to swim and play around on the beach and not have to worry about a damned thing. For a moment life was good.
For a moment they were a real family.

Dean hadn't trained his boys in about ten years, he wanted his boys to live a normal life and he stuck to his promise he'd hidden guns away and everything he was now a stay at home dad with one teenage boy and a teenage girl.. Dean was laying on his bed reading a book, when his son Vaughn knocked on the door and came in
"Dad, i need to borrow your old tuxedo for the prom.." "Son, it honours me that the only man apart from me asked to borrow my lucky tux.. I married your mother in that suit and it was the proudest moment of my life.. Sure you can borrow it.. I didn't want your brother to have it anyway." Dean laughed as he turned the page..
Dean preferred Vaughn over his other son as Vaughn always seemed more manly and obsessed with girls.. While his brother always seemed to embarrass him taking hairdressing at school much to Dean's distain.
"So, Vaughn, you got yourself a hot date for this prom of yours... And has your brother asked one of his "Friends" to accompany him.. I mean i love Cinderella and all but he's abit... " Dean wandered off as he looked into his book and than back to his son with a grin as he watched his son trail off about his date.

Vaughn stumbled into the room and looked up at his dad with a slight bit of shyness before him. His dad was always so serious. But at least he hadn't trained in a long time. His dad had actually kept his word for once. "Dad, i need to borrow your old tuxedo for the prom.."
He felt a sigh of relief when his dad was totally cool with letting him borrow his tux. But then his jaw dropped when he realized his dad was expecting some details on the girl. "She's been my best friend for a long time dad. It's Belle, remember? I told you about that a while ago. We've been friends since we moved here. We're going as friends, I think. We'll see how it goes."
Vaughn scratched at his nose before looking back to his dad. "Well dad if you don't mind I got to get ready for boxing practice before the prom tonight soo..--" He tried to leave the room but he knew his dad was probably going to interject and say something else. Mainly something about his dad or insist on picking on his brother again. He still never understood that tension. It upset him a little bit. If only their mother was never taken away.

"Well Son, before you go i thought we could have a conversation that means a lot to me.. I know Belle she's a lovely girl.. But you see a girl like that is only good for one thing.. Basically your gonna bust your nuts all up inside her patty cake and she's going to turn into a right asshole.. Something that your brother likes very much.. Now i want to explain to you clearly.. When you and Belle have finished dancing she'll be like oh Vaughn slide your fingers into my treasure cove.. " Dean spoke as he flipped the page of his book and looked at his son sincerely in the eye.
"And then you're going to stink up your hands after pleasing her treasure cove she'll repay the favour and as a good father i figured I'd let you borrow my car.. But if you fuck her in my car i will skullfuck the life outta you my boy.." Dean leaned over to his dresser and pulled out a few condoms and threw them at Vaughn..
Dean smirked as he nodded at his son.. "Also if you bang up my car i will beat you to a pulp with a spanner than make you pay for the damage.. " Dean laughed and laid his book down and waited for any questions his son may have had.. Or something to that limit.. Dean was always very open with his son.. and it made the relationship between father and son very relaxing.

"Dad I really don't want the treasure cove lecture again. Is that how you viewed mom? Hmm? She's my friend. I don't need your car. I'll just take my Jeep. Now I'm off to boxing practice so..--See you later before Prom. "
Vaughn left the room and ran up the stairs, throwing his boxing gear into his large duffel bag and looking over at his brother. "Dont you have soccer or something?" His brother made no response. Vaughn soon realized he was listening to music and had his headphones on, dancing around and bobbing his head around the room.
Vaughn laughed to himself and then ran down the stairs. He threw his bag in the hallway and stepped bag into his dads room. "Look...dad, I'm sorry. I didn't mean what I said. I'm eighteen. I don't want you shadowing over me. I can make my own choices. I know you care but..--Back off every once in a while. And don't talk about Belle like that again dad. That really pissed me off."
Walking out of the room he picked up his duffel bag and walked out to his '86 CJ7 parked in the driveway. Vaughn threw the bag into the backseat and ran around to the drivers side, jumping in. Upon turning the igntion the car had a trouble starting, but when Vaughn pressed the gas pedal a few times the Jeep roared to life.

Dean wasn't sure what hurt more the fact his son had yelled at him.. Or the fact he'd annoyed his son, of course Dean didn't mean any harm to him it's just with being a single parent he'd never really stopped thinking as Vaughn as his little boy..
Sighing to himself he took of his reading glasses and placed them on the bedside table.. Looking down at the book his wife had bought him all those years ago and now he'd only started to read it, She'd left a void in his life and of course he was never really the same..
Dean sighed softly and laid the book down to one side, reaching in his dresser was a framed picture of him and Imogen.. "I'm sure if you was around dear, I'd have been a better father to these boys.. And for you not being able to see them grow up i truly am sorry.." Dean sighed as he jumped up off his bed..
Maybe he could be a better father to Vaughn's brother as he walked out of his bedroom and past the boys bedroom he looked at his youngest son dancing around singing something by a boy band.. "Nope.." He sighed as he walked down the stairs and watched Vaughn pulling off the drive and he smiled waving at his son.

It was a week after Prom. Vaughn danced around his opponent, sweat rolling down his face. He gave him a left hook, popping him in the chin. His opponent stepped back, the crowd cheered. Vaughn looked to the stands to see his father who was yelling, "Knock his pansy ass out son!"
Vaughn spotted a grin and felt a heavy punch square to the jaw. He flew backwards into the ropes, holding himself up. His vision was blurred as he looked around the room. But it soon came back as he saw the fist of his enemy coming towards his face. Vaughn danced around him and threw his weight into a punch right to the chin again. The man stumbled backwards and fell over. Vaughn watched as he tried to get up and continued to jump around him, keeping the blood in his body moving.
The ref held up Vaughns hand and the crowd within the High School Gym roared. Vaughn walked off the mat, throwing off his gloves and gave a hug to his best friend Belle, who ran up to him to give him a congratulations. He walked over towards the bench, sitting next to his teammates and looked over at his dad, giving him a wave.
