I feel marooned in this body,
Deserted, my organs can go on without me.

You can't fly these wings,
You can't sleep in this box with me.

She was trying to get her life back together. She didn't understand how she could go on like this. She hated how pathetic she was recently, she missed the vivacious woman she once was, but now? She was essentially a shell of what she was. She didn't know how to get back to what she was, to who she was. She missed the girl who could go in a room and turn heads; who could stop men in their tracks with just a smile, or a glance. She was respected, and she thought she deserved that respect. Now? She didn't think she was worth any of the respect once given to her. She was just down to her absolute limits, she just didn't understand how she'd ended up here. Or, well she did know, but she didn't know why, or how. Did lots of creatures like this exist? No, that couldn't have been it. She was just a freak, that was all.
She had dressed herself for once, and she was moving around as much as she could. She was sore, but she just wanted to get out. She had sort of almost slept through a whole night. That was a plus, right? She pulled her hair up, or partly up, and most of it was falling down her back. She shook it around a lot, and she half smiled for the first time in a while. She knew it was silly, but it was something. A smile was a rarity for her most days, but when she did have one, it gave her hope that the person she once was was still in there; somewhere.
So tonight, she was going to try and go out and have a normal night. She passed a place when she was walking sometimes that looked like she would want to go have a drink there. So, she pulled clothes on, and she left to do just that. She was showing more skin then she had in a while, and she just wanted to get out, and maybe if someone could make her feel pretty she would feel better. Maybe, if only for a while. A while was longer then she had felt better recently, so it was something. Definitely something.
She moved down the sidewalk, trying to blend in with the others she passed, and she did her best to keep her head up. She moved down the street, and she hailed a cab, asking to take her towards this little pub she had seen. Close enough for her to walk, she paid them, and got out. She walked slowly, and she pushed the door. The pub seemed small, and almost tight in the regulars sense. She would just have a drink and stay out of the way; she wasn't here to bother anyone. She ordered a Stella, and she took a seat at the end of the bar, watching those around her. She was glad she decided to come out, even if just to have this beer and people watch. She smiled lightly, taking a sip of her beer, and she just looked over the crowd, content with being where she was for the time at hand.
