- New York, NY: In a bold move today, Electronic Arts Inc., a multinational parent company based in New York City, has announced a merger with Reagan Enterprises, a long-standing rival. The news comes as a shock to many who were watching the two companies' stock prices race to the top.
Former EAI media relations director Evelyn van Buren, now CEO, says this is a step in a different direction for the company, and that acquiring Reagan is "just the first of many recovery moves". EAI saw a steep decline in its stock price last year due to internal inhibitions. With a change in management, it looks set to make a comeback.
Why Reagan? "Reagan has been investing heavily in areas of research we find significant," she explains, without really explaining anything at all. She hints that EAI and Reagan have been working on a joint project for some time now.
"It will benefit us both if we pool our resources and focus on this new project together."
With the advantages of Reagan behind it, EAI is looking like stronger competition for Life Line Inc. another global rival. Will Life Line make a retaliatory move? Only time will tell.
