So long, soldier, Cruise controller.Satellite trajectory, guide us into reverie, And come down to voice a generation. Eli couldn't rap his head around this guy. He didn't even know where to start. He followed kids around in grave yards, but seemed to mean...well enough. Eli didn't want to trust him, didn't want to follow him around, but he didn't have much choice at this point, did he? He guessed two was better then one, but what he didn't get most of all was why. He was just some kid, why would he care?
He got in the car as the man reached through to open it. He didn't know cars could be this nice and be owned by seemingly normal people, he looked down, ”No. I can't.” He realized how useless he really be. Couldn't drive, couldn't kill anything apparently; some hunter he was. He looked back towards the bushes, and he furrowed his brow, ”Yes..” He mused, he'd seen them. He hadn't noticed any of that. He wanted to rip his own hair out, he'd kill things before and he couldn't even realize he was being tracked?! Useless! On instinct, he wanted to start tugging out his eyebrows; one of his nervous ticks, but he didn't. He just kept silent. As the car sped off, his head snapped back into the seat.
He looked at his elder as the man spoke. He sounded like his father, but he hadn't hit him for not noticing vampires, so that was a plus..he guessed. ”I'll keep up...trust comes later, but I'll try. You haven't killed me yet so I guess I can give you the benefit of the doubt.” The smart mouth he had on him earlier was dying quickly. He basically had been handed a second chance, he couldn't forget that.
Police? This was the real deal here. ”That go for hunters or we don't kill monsters here either?” Sounded like a stupid question, of course they killed monsters...right? He didn't know if he could follow orders that didn't involve killing any monster on sight. They didn't deserve to live, no questions asked.
The man laughed and he looked up at the commander with a blank expression; blank and lost. That was most of his life, there were days he realized he really didn't know how to act like a person, and it was bad. Fun? He did things to relax, but he wouldn't call comic books fun. ”I don't do fun very well, so maybe I'm already insane.” He said with a bland tone, not caring to admit that, but he had, and he couldn't take it back. He could say there was really no prestige in this business.

"Not all are monsters...--Think of the newly turned. They could have been kidnapped, or just picked off the streets some night. Should we kill someone who was turned against their will? Someone who has no idea how to control what they are? I don't think so. We only kill the monsters; the ones who attack the people. Even if a newly turned attacks a civilian then yes, we put 'em down."
Vaughn turned a corner sharply, changing his direction. The social district was lit up like a carnival like usual. The streets were bustling with cars and road rage, and groups of people walked together along the streets. "The Vamps and the Lycans live in their own societies. What you see here on the streets, those are the rogues. The rogues are what we Hunt. The rogues have blood on their hands."
Nearing a diner, Vaughn stepped out of the car and started to walk inside. He sat down on the booth and looked over the menu. "A burger sounds good, don't it?"
This place was no golden ticket, but the food was cheap and good. "Are you enrolled in school?" Vaughn said, giving him a serious look. "How many years do you got left?"
"If you're hungry get as much as you want." The waitress came over as he finished his sentence and Vaughn gave her a smile.
"What'll it be boys?" She said.
"I'll have a cheeseburger and a vanilla milkshake" Vaughn said as he handed her his menu and rubbed his hands together. "After we eat we'll go to my place, we'll find you some more suitable gear and we'll go on a hunt. Depending on how well you do, how well you follow orders, and how well you adapt we'll see if you can join the Hunters."
"We hunters have our own secret hideout." Vaughn said quietly, "Which is why I can't just take you there unless I know you are capable. If the Government or the Supernatural were to find out--Well...it would probably result in a war. That's not something we need right now."
The waitress finally came over, putting down their orders and walking off. Vaughn grabbed a french fry and threw it into his mouth. "Usually I come here after I hunt. It's like my own ritual. After I hunt I come here, eat some pie, drink some coffee, and think."

So long, soldier, Cruise controller.Satellite trajectory, guide us into reverie, And come down to voice a generation. His reasoning, while sound didn't wholly make sense to Eli was sound. He didn't get how the thinking of hunters in different places could be so strange. ”I guess that makes sense..they have to be monitored though, right? Only one instance it seems could change a man to a monster.” He knew that to be true more then anything. A threatened creature was like an animal, and then he figured it became either fight or flight. The ones who got in his way would die, and that was it, right? Get in the right place or the wrong one really, and it could be the end of everything.
Rouges. Maybe that was more of what he was used to. He wasn't really told what he was to hunt, her just was usually handed a gun and told to follow or die. He guessed that part of what Logan said made sense to him, he could keep up, and if he didn't have anything to say, he wouldn't. He had gone most of his life without asking questions, maybe he should just keep to that. Follower for his whole life, why change that now? ”Rouges...Okay. I think I get that...The groups they're part of, the others; they keep them in line?” He didn't think these questions were very intelligent questions, but he had to know.
”Food sounds good, I really haven't eaten much in days.” He said with a slightly lighter tone. ”So yes, Commander, it does.” He smiled, kept his face low. He didn't look people in the eyes much, not that he wasn't being straight forward or anything, he just didn't think he was supposed to. They were above him, and he didn't need to look them in the face. ”No. I don't go to school; I never did get to. Dad homeschooled me. I'm 16, so I guess it woulda been..2 or so years left?” He didn't understand peers, or trends or that gangnam style thing.
Maybe running into this guy wasn't so bad after all. ”I'll have a burger plate with extra fries, and a chocolate milkshake, please.” He said to the woman, looking up with a smile. He did know how to be nice...sometimes. Mostly to women. ”Will anything you have fit me? You're a bit bigger then I am...” He said with a glance and the same smile he'd given the woman. The guy was giving him a chance and he didn't need to forget that. ”I'll do as best I can, I've always been decent at following orders.” He meant that, he might not have been as skilled as some people, but he'd work hard to get where he needed to be.
”I understand.” Weaknesses wouldn’t be tolerated and shouldn't have been. He didn't take offense to it, and he didn't need to have it spelled out for him. If he wasn't good enough, he wasn't good enough.
As the food was put in front of him, he eyed the food like he hadn't eaten in months. He needed to get a job and eat more, he noted to himself. ”When dad and I would finish one, he'd get shitfaced chugging bourbon and telling me how I didn't shoot straight enough for his liking and next time I did it, I'd do nothing but guard the truck. I like yours better.” He said with a smile, though it wasn't something he should have smiled about..but he was anyhow, it was how his father had functioned, he got used to it.

"Our fathers are assholes" Vaughn said, as he took a sip of his milkshake and went back at eating his burger, feeling the greasy juices flow down his throat like A Good Year.
Vaughn looked back at his plate and realized his burger was gone. Damn, he thought, I was hungry. Next was the fries. Placing a hand over a couple, Vaughn sloppily scooped them in some ketchup and popped them in his mouth. "You got to enjoy the little things Kid. There's no telling if you'll come back from a hunt. I like to enjoy my meal; treat it like there won't be one tomorrow."
Looking around, Vaughn eyed a waittress and stared at her back end as she walked past. Vaughn looked back at the kid and gave him a wink. "...Enjoy the little things" he said, looking back at the waitress nonchalantly.
Without another notice, Vaughn got up and walked over towards the jukebox along the back wall. Scrolling through some tunes, Vaughn shoved in a quarter and picked one of his favorites. In the background started to play, 'Pour Some Sugar on Me', by one of Vaughn's favorite bands, Def Leppard. Coming back to his seat Vaughn did a air-guitar routine and sat back in his seat.
Looking at his empty plate, Vaughn picked it up and moved it to the end of the table, grabbing his milkshake and drinking it slowly, savoring the flavor. "You want some more food kid? You look like you haven't eaten in a while. We got to get some meat on your bones. I take shits bigger than you." Vaughn said with a chuckle which turned into a laugh.
With a sigh Vaughn looked at the ceiling, "God...I need to shoot something."
